Online Entry Form

Entries are due by noon on Friday, May 19th

  • Youth ages 5-18 as of January 1, 2023, may participate in the program. They must be a current 4-H member enrolled in 4-H online.
  • Entry Fee is $25 per youth (baby chick prices have gone way up!) by cash or check payable to Halifax County.
  • A project record book or poster presentation is required to participate in the show on October 21st.
  • Youth will receive 3 baby chicks on May 24th to be raised to exhibit at the Halifax County Harvest Days Poultry Show on October 21st.
  • Educational workshops will be held 6:30 p.m. in the Extension kitchen on the following dates:

 June 1st

  June 29th

     August 31st

     September 28th

  • Additional practices for Avian Bowl and Poultry Judging will be held (time to be determined):

  June 8th

   June 22nd

  July 13th

4-H Avian Bowl Contests will be held on the NC State Campus July 18th-19th. Halifax will take teams if there is enough interest!

What is Avian Bowl?  It is a team quiz event that tests participants’ knowledge of a wide range of avian topics (think chicken quiz bowl!)

What is Poultry Judging? It is an event that allows participants to show off their mastery of poultry knowledge by examining hens, poultry cuts and eggs.
