Pink Gardening gloves

As a gardener, I appreciate receiving gifts that are practical and that I can use in the garden. If you have a gardener who you may be shopping for, here are a few suggestions for gifts to consider when shopping for them.

  • Quality garden gloves – stretch nylon gloves with waterproof palms/fingers are good for weeding and planting; leather landscaper’s gloves with Velcro wrists and extra protection on palms and fingers are great for heavier gardening chores such as pruning.
  • Tools like trowels, pruning equipment, weeders, bulb planters, shovels, garden rakes, kneeling pads, trugs or buckets, netting, floating row cover, watering cans, hoses, gator bags, sprinklers.
  • For the picky gardener give them a gift certificate to a local garden center or nursery or to a mail-order catalog. That way that can choose what they really want or need.
  • Purchase bulk quality compost or mulch and have it delivered.
  • Pampering items such as gardener’s hand soap, lip balms, gardener’s hand lotion or cream, and scented bath salts let the gardener remove the grime and recover from their gardening chores.
  • Give a membership – to a local botanical garden or arboretum (these often have reciprocal agreements with many other gardens and arboreta).
  • Miscellaneous – local honey, local fruit products such as jellies, jams, wines, cider, birdfeeders, birdbaths, water fountains, statuary.
  • For real luxury, give the gift of a 1-2 week guided gardening trip or tour.

Happy Holidays.
