Master Gardeners offer guidance in public landscaping projects

Now accepting applications for the 2020 Extension Master Gardener℠ program of Wilkes County training class!

If you enjoy working with plants or on community projects related to horticulture, or would like to learn gardening fundamentals, then this training is for you. Master Gardener℠ volunteers complete the training and then go on to volunteer to promote horticulture education in Wilkes County.

The class will meet weekly, February 5 – May 6, 2020, Wednesday afternoons 1–4 p.m. Most classes will be held at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Wilkes County Center (416 Executive Dr, Wilkesboro, NC 28697), but occasionally we will travel to farms or other Extension Centers for special training. Classes will begin at 1 p.m., no matter where we are. The exceptions are March 11 and May 6, which will be longer classes at remote sites.

Class topics include: growing vegetables, small fruit, and tree fruit, Botany, soil fundamentals & fertilizers, woody ornamentals, Entomology, Integrated Pest Management, lawn care, and maintenance, and more!

The fee for the course, including training manual, and other fees, is $125. Please submit payment along with your application.
