COMMUNITY GRANTS

The Agricultural Sciences Department at Alamance Community College prepares students for fields in various areas of agriculture with one of those fields being sustainable agriculture. They received an NC AgVentures grant to purchase materials for pasture poultry housing and processing equipment to process various poultry species.

N.C. Cooperative Extension, Warren County Center received a grant for poultry processing equipment that will be available to farmers in the county that want to process their own poultry.

The Pittsboro Farmers’ Market (PFM) is a producer-only organization featuring vendors who grow, raise, or create their products within a 50-mile radius of the market. They received an NC AgVentures grant to improve the infrastructure of the retail area, which will make the space more welcoming and allow more vendors to participate.

N.C. Cooperative Extension, Harnett County Center received a grant to purchase mobile poultry processing equipment to rent to farmers that want to process their own poultry.

Davie Soil and Water received a grant to purchase livestock scales and corral panels to assist livestock producers work their livestock more efficiently and safely.

The Bea Excellent Association (BEA) received an NC AgVentures grant to purchase materials to educate the community about bees and their importance to the food supply.
